The design was largely driven by the process, its symmetry and balance meaning that it had to be extremely precise. From a distance, Dota resembles a classic stool, but it's not until you more intimately engage with it that it reveals its hidden details.
Made from American ash and lovingly finished, Dota takes the ancient technique of a wedged mortise tenon join once used to fix axe heads to the handles and applies it to the stool. The use of this joint adds a new innovative twist to the stool, creating a focal point, while the timber is treated to look as raw and natural as possible, enabling an emotional connection for the user through its material quality.

Dota Stool

Influenced by 50's and 60's furniture and particularly the work of Hans Wegner and Sam Maloof, Dota lends itself to the elegant, effortless design of this era. Focusing on the simplicity of structure Dota finds its beauty in the subtle details; sharp lines and smooth curves. Its stripped back, pure form unites form and function acting as both a stool and a side table.
