Nib Bird Feeder

The brief was to design a "vessel" to be apart of a Koha exhibition where by all of the pieces made were given away on the day. There was a certain focus of adding value to an object without the use of expensive materials. The process of slip casting ceramics was a great way to do this as porcelain has been utilised as a material of value for thousands of years through the methods adopted and the fragility of the items created.

The Nib feeders are created with a two part mould. It's shape was design by working through characteristics of its occupants and the environment in which it sits. The small size is to feed the smaller birds such as sparrows, finches, wax eyes and fan tails.
